How relevant is Aristotle's theory of friendship in contemporary, mediated society? Are other philosophies useful?

To begin  we'll discuss Aristotle's Philosophy of Friendship as it is traditionally interpreted. In later weeks we'll consider the philosophy and identify additional types of friendship and new characteristics of friendship. We'll refer to Mark Vernon's podcast reviewing Aristotle's notes. I'm also looking for related notes that participants can refer to.

I'm looking for people to help me develop this study group's core content and tasks before we become public. Let me know if you'd like to participate as an admin.
