Alfie Kohn's Beyond Discipline:From Compliance to Conformity critiques the notions of "classroom management" and "classroom discipline" and offers instead a vision of a democratic, collaborative classroom culture and society at large. How, though, can we put this into practice in our own classrooms and in our everyday lives? This study group will explore this questions through a reading of Kohn's book and the analysis and application of it to our own practice and experiences.
