This course will become read-only in the near future. Tell us at community.p2pu.org if that is a problem.

Write a Magnificent Blog Post

Explain your reasons for embarking on the Webmaking 101 challenges and some interesting facts about yourself

Now that you've got somewhere to express yourself via prose and imagery, you're going to write a magnificent blog post. It doesn't have to be a novel, but do try and share some of yourself, your reasons for embarking on the Webmaking 101 challenges and some interesting facts about yourself.

Spend about 15 minutes writing this blog post.

Your blog and website mentioned in the introduction post are both done in a content management system (CMS) like Wordpress. The CMS makes it easy to post stuff. But you are only in partial control of the site. The CMS does the heavy lifting for you and you just need to make the text.

This P2PU activity sequence is designed to get you to a real, live, and HANDMADE site. The coding will be all yours. Along the way, you will need to understand the basics of HTML, and at the end of the sequence, you will need to explore other areas like Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and maybe JavaScript. However, you can go a long way with your site by using only the HTML that you use while doing this course. Don't look down on a "static" site. For personal development, a static site which is without a CMS component, will be easier to use as a skill development platform. You will be in total control of the content, its layout, design and function.

Keep at it. Don't hesitate to call out for help.

Your P2PU-related blog is an important part of the cycle in this set of activities. In the blog, you will "reflect" on what you do in the course. The peer group may really benefit from your posts, especially if you describe both your successes and the struggles and stumbles you had along the way.

Because this is mainly a self motivated set of tasks, the feedback you get may be intermittent. It is a good idea to get used to doing internet searches for the topic you need help with. Post your problems, here or in your blog. Some people will respond. Sometimes you'll need patience. There is no staff watching the comments and no set of teaching assistants waiting to help.

Not sure what you mean by "re direct me to the first lesson." This comment exchange is the process of introducing yourself to the peer group. Read not only comments linked to you, but other ones, too. Try connecting with peers by responding to their blogs and comments here. Build a support group by participating.

For a quick review of the tasks ahead, look at the starting page again. https://p2pu.org/en/schools/school-of-webcraft/sets/webmaking-101/

As an extension of the last comment, if you are into badges, make an effort to help others get them, too.
