posted message: In the spirit of working in the open, here are my notes «The state of web video (meta) data».
It's NOT a blog post, but a work document that sketch a quick panorama of where we are in term of turning web videos into citizen of the 'web of data' (hint: not very far)

posted message: On Friday, before the optional Friday lecture, I posted a "Lost in Translation: barriers to collaboration between hacks and hackers" here: goo.gl/tIiFw
I'd be curious to hear what the MozNewsLab community thinks we could be doing better (or differently) to have more efficient communication between the different backgrounds involved in the MozNewsLab.
And here is a great example of altering your communicating technique to suit your audience. (A post with PICTURES!)

posted message: If your are not a coder, but now think that you have to learn a little bit of Javascript, you should check :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQVTIJBZook
And then maybe the book of the same name : http://www.google.com/search?q=JavaScript%3A+The+Good+Parts
(you probably need a bit of basic understanding of programming before this, but it could be a nice follow up to the basics. TryRuby.org is a good basic intro, via Ruby - not Javascript, but knowing more than one langage is good, so… My 11 years old nephew have just gone through all the tryRuby.org tutorials today, it was a good experience.)
posted message: Just a quick reminder if you're attending today's lecture:

+ If you are an auditor, use a "#" symbol before your name
+ If you are calling in, *important* that you direct message Jacob in P2PU to let us know you attended (and, if possible, include the number you called-in from)
+ Please don't change your name during the session. Thanks! -- The Management.

posted message: A note from Fred of Big Blue Button on OSX Lion compatibility:
After a user updates to Mac OS 1.07 (Lion), they will encounter is a Flash player problem that will prevent them from joining the audio bridge in BigBlueButton (there is a temporary workaround below). We've posted a description of it in our forums:

posted message: I'm just back from holiday in deepest darkest rural France (no public wifi in any of the nearest towns, not even a McDonalds in 40 miles) and trying to catch up a week and a half worth of lectures, tasks and buzz.
Having a bit of bother accessing the lecture recordings, the play bar comes up, but doesn't load the audio, managed to download the ogg file, but just want to check that I'm not missing/haven't missed anything?
posted message: Just a reminder that if you have questions about the final assignment -- your 'software product proposal' that is due on August 5th -- please drop by the #p2pu-166-knight-moz IRC / chat channel around noon eastern today (one hour before today's lecture).
I'll be idling in the chat channel and I am happy to answer question about the final project.
Phillip.
