DNS is there in the background, keeping us humans from having to memorize lists of numbers.

We still may need to bookmark the human-readable addresses, but at least they are more memorable than even the 4 part IPv4, never mind the stranger IPv6.

Let's hope the system remains in the relatively logical hands of Internet engineers.
