We'll be focusing on the open source CFML engines (OpenBD and Railo), but Adobe does offer a Developer Edition of ColdFusion, which is free to download, install, and run. The fastest way to get started with open source CFML is with OpenBD Desktop. Check it out on OpenBD's download page: http://www.openbd.org/download/
