NaNoWriMo and P2PU are two of my favorite projects, so this year, I’m bringing them together.

Not everyone "preps" to write a novel. Some inspired souls just sit down with a vague concept and maybe a character or two and let thier muses guide them. I don't write like that though.

Last year, I was a part of a great NaNo prep project (tip of the hat to Writing.com). Without it, I’m sure I wouldn’t have been as successful as I was in becoming a NaNo winner. So I thought it would be fun to be a part of a writing group here to prep for NaNo this year.

There’s a separate group for the actual writing in November, and you don’t have to be a part of either group to join the other.

Here are some suggestions to make your NaNoWriMo and P2PU mutually happy and successful:

• Read about NaNoWriMo and sign up here.
• Use this writing group in whatever way is useful to you to succeed in November. That’s what this is all about. 50,000 words. 30 days. That’s it.
• Ask for help. (What’s the first two weeks of Peace Corps orientation like? What’s a great name for a small Midwestern town? Why am I doing this??)
• Give help. (See above.)
• Have fun (if you can…easier in October than in November in my experience, but oh when you hit that 50,000…there’s nothing like it).

You don’t have to post any of your prep or actual writing here. If you want to post links to it, excerpts, or whatever though, feel free.

We’ll have a list of suggested prep tasks, which will be posted on September 30. You can do any of them you want in any order and suggest your own as well. Just post the number of the task you complete for each of 25 days in October, and you’ll get a badge.

Reach 50,000 words in November and you’ll get another one.

Easy as that. ;)
