Task Discussion

I hope this isn't too late in course to do this, but I have at least three areas I am thinking about creating resources for at Digital IS.  My best guess is that I will be working on all three eventually.

First, I want to follow up on digital annotation in its many 'texts'--video, audio, digital text.  I want to recount how users learn with it.

Second,  I want to follow up on the work of Jay Cross, Charles Jennings, et al in informal learning.  I think that the work they have done in corporate training/adult learning has some serious implications.  Eventually I would like to find some folks willing to do a 3 week p2pu on this subject.

Third, I was fascinated by Christina's suggestion that we might want to look at all the activity surrounding "beyondthetextbook".  I have been looking at new digital search tools for filtering the firehose of information that came out of that.  My goal is to first figure out a personal research 'algorithm' for gathering twitter-style data-- links, text, analytics, and all.  Second, I need to develop practical ways for filtering that torrent of tweets, blogs, forums and news.  I want to document that process, but I also want some advice and suggestions on how I might do this. I have already started this process, but your input would be great.

Last, I am following up on a longer term project that Troy suggested offhand to me that I consider a re-boot of Ken Macrorie's I-Search.

Just anticipating this week I saw this video on curation.  Helpful to me as a focus and as a place go to ask questions.

What a beautiful video! I really like this and appreciate you posting it here. Since I didn't come back to this page I almost missed it. But I wanted to comment here in case other might have missed it too.
