Open educational resources

Open educational resources (OER) are materials that are free to use, adapt, and redistribute. They might be free from copyright (public domain) or distributed under a license like Creative Commons.

    I have really dropped the bal  on this.  I need a p2pu course on this all by itself. I will be adding a few items here to try to get a conversation going.

    We actually did a whole course on OER but it was before I really groked how P2PU could work best (not that I really know all that now :) and it wasn't the best. Lots of information there though.

    OER is my big thing, so if I can point you to some resources or answer questions, let me know. I think this is the key to how we can personalize and differentiate learning effectively.

    Karen,

    I believe Harry's thinking was to work with P2PU students to help in the building of the global curriculum.  My thoughts are that it would be part of a class for credit where they would learn about learning styles, OER, matching the two, building curricula on Glogster.   I would like to have an opportunity to talk to you further on how this might be arranged and offered.  Also I am trying to contact Harry to let him know we need to meet to further discuss P2PU involvement.

    Karen,  As I think you know, K12 Next Generation is bringing individuals and organizations together to build a global curiculum continuum by consolidating open educational resources into lessons  which address all learning styles.  Students move through this continuum of learning at their own pace with the support of the teacher.  This tool now allows for personalized learning to take place.

    You are probably aware that Harry Blake brought P2PU in as a collaborator with  K12 Next Generation.  We are offering an opportunity for educators to COLLABORATE to build a tool for the GLOBAL education  community.  Is this not a prime example of Connected Educators?

    I'm not aware of a collaboration with P2PU, but would love to hear how your teachers and students are using OER.

    I think that open educational resources are a great way to go for differentiating and personalizing instruction with technology. There are so many free and open ebooks, videos, online courses, and more.

    Here are a bunch of early learning open ebooks we made from FreeReading decodable passages. They're also available in Curriki in some other formats if you want to remix yourself.
