I am a Fifth Grade Teacher at a Pennsylvania charter school focused on sustainable living, environmental stewardship, and integrated, hands-on learning. I have about 15 years of teaching experience both public and charter in grades 1 through 5. I took a 10-year break from the classroom to raise my daughter and worked as a freelance education and creativity consultant for Crayola and Royal Caribbean cruise lines. I wrote hundreds of art-integrated lessons and developed an on-going video series for Crayola, created and developed educational programming for Royal Caribbean, and authored 10 children's books for Scholastic. My return to the classroom has been made possible by a wonderful charter school opportunity that has been exciting, although very hard work! I love teaching; it is my art. And I love my students, each and every one.

I want to know if the way they are being taught meets their leaning styles.In my mind, education should not be a one size fits all approach. This course seems to address some of these ideas.

I don't live in a big city, so online professional development helps me to grow as a professional without having to drive 2-3 hours to participate. The key to effective online education is organization and having learning goals. You have to know where you want to take your students and then have a plan for getting them there!

I have my masters of science in instructional technology from Wilkes University and hold a Bachelors in arts from Bloomsburg University in music education. I'm proud to say that this is my 21st year in education. I have been a fourth grade teacher and sixth grade teacher. I am currently a full release mentor for my district.
