At P2PU, people work together to learn a particular topic by completing tasks, assessing individual and group work, and providing constructive feedback.
This course will become read-only in the near future. Tell us at community.p2pu.org if that is a problem.
Self-study course on proofs and algorithms
University of Maryland open study group on mathematical proofs, theoretical arguments, probability theory and randomized algorithms. Focus on solving problems. Content has been chosen to complement graduate-level work in computer science.
For those on campus at UMD, there will be weekly in-person meetings to review practice problems and questions about the material. All are welcome to participate and keep pace with the material and discussions. If there is interest we will determine a way to support remote meeting participation.
posted message: We have 4 weeks left until the summer is over! Kotaro and I suggest the following schedule for the next few weeks (I will update the tasks as well):
August 3rd: MathCS Chapters 10 and 11
August 10th: Alive Chapter 7 (our last official Alice chapter!)
August 17th: Review week (doing problems)
August 24th: Wild card (read one of the more specialized chapters in Alice or MathCS that you are interested in, a paper that uses the techniques we've been studying, do more problems, etc.).
Feel free to comment or make suggestions :)
