Food

We all need food to live, and food is often more delicious and healthier when you make it yourself. This might be making a snack or a whole meal or growing your own food.

What to do:

  • Choose one of the projects below.
  • If you'd like to collaborate with someone else on a project, post a comment asking for collaborators.
  • When you're done with the project, post a comment with a link to your work. (This can be a link to YouTube, Flickr, Google Docs, or your web site, or you can post your work directly here.)

Small projects

  • Make a meal for yourself or your famiily. Post a photo here. And include the recipe so we can make it too!
  •

Bigger projects

  • Start growing some plants indoors. You can plant seeds in old milk cartons or other containers. Herbs like basil or cilantro are an easy way to get started.
  • Start a garden.

It seems cold outside, but it's time to start planning my spring garden. (Anyone else making a garden this year? What are you growing?)

I always start with a plan of what I'll grow where. This year I'm adding 6 beds and trying intercropping (growing complimentary plants together). I'll be growing a lot of crops from seeds I saved last year. Here's my plan so far.

Next step in making my garden...I've planted a bunch of seeds in little milk cartons inside. That way when it finally gets warm outside, I'll have plants ready to go!
