This course will become read-only in the near future. Tell us at community.p2pu.org if that is a problem.

Overview of this study group

We will kick off the study group on July 9 with an opportunity to reflect on the connections we make in our writing and literacy learning work, introduce the NWP Digital Is website which will serve as a shared text, as well as get to know the P2PU forum and discuss our expectations as participants in the study group.

Once we kick off this study group on July 9 we will move into a set of broad topics meant to support an overall conversation about making writing and literacy learning connections. Topics will be kicked off by writing project teachers connected to this study group with links to resources from our shared text, NWP Digital Is.

The overall plan includes:

  • Katherine will start us off with a focus on "writing in the real world" on July 12;
  • Kevin Hodgson will then turn our attention to "writing as making and production" at the beginning of the second week on July 16;
  • We will move into a focus on "connecting communities and writing for equity and change"on July 19 with Kim; and,
  • Tellio will lead us into the final week on July 23 with a focus on "connected writing and learning."

We hope that these broad topics will serve to prompt discussion and sharing as well as encourage new topics of interest to emerge among us as fellow study group members. Please feel free to share your own work, questions and related resources along the way!

From July 25-27, as we begin to wrap up the study group, we will have an opportunity to share final reflections and thoughts about our time together as well as share any ideas for potential connections and possibilities ahead. We will also provide more information about how to continue to participate and add your own resources to NWP Digital Is.

    Hi Christina,

    I am also part of the Connecticut Writing Project at Fairfield that starts next week. However I got a grant from iBSC & we are looking at technology, creativity, literacy & boys as a yearlong action research project internationally. Hence, I am leaving for their conference to Melbourne, Australia this Thursday, the 5th, rtning on the 15th. I will try my best to log in & see the activities on P2PU, but the time difference might make it tough.

    Hoping to be part of it once I get back

    best

    sue

    Hi Sue.

    Wow -- sounds exciting. And congratulations! Seems like a great opportunity.

    Thanks for letting us know. We will miss your full participation but if you can log in you are welcome to join us at any point. And feel free to share what you are working on -- sounds like a wonderful project and something we could all learn from in this context too.

    Best,
    Christina
