Screen Capture Software

If you have created Machinima, you already have some Screen Capture Software. If you do not, you will need to have some.  Check the tabs describing some of the software used most frequently on this Machinima Livebinder http://www.livebinders.com/play/play_or_edit?id=306926.

Jing is a very inexpensive solution for both PC and Mac users.  You can use the free version, limited to capturing and posting without editing, or for $15. You can download a version that allows you to capture up to 5 minute clips.  Download free Jing here http://www.techsmith.com/download/jing/default.asp.  The Jing site provides great step-by step instructions.  It is worth reviewing the instructions.

Although Jing is still available it looks like snagit is becoming the replacement.  Snagit used to be for stills only.  I have not yet tried it but we had some issues with the newer version of jing last night (I have an old one).  you could indeed capture but not save it in a format for editing.  Still doing research on that one.  PC users can download Fraps for free and everyone can download a 60 free version of Camtasia.  Since Camtasia is commonly used the 60 day can give you a good idea.
