  I really want an opportunity to upskill at a low cost. ive made alot of bad choices in life and have limited money to pursue further qualifications. This topic interests me, due to the nature of learning web desgn from the ground up and being part of a greater cause.

  Bio:

  I became disabled in 2008, and can no longeer work in the industry that had employed me for the last 25 years. Plus I can no longer drive. I am not one to sit on my butt and twittle my thumbs, plus losing my job brought our income from $70,000 per year down to 15,000.  Needless to say, I decided that I must try and build new skills in order to re-enter the workforce, and become productive bread winner for my family.

  Technology has always facinated me, and the internet allows to us to sit at home and yet communicate with the world at the same time. Plus, during the 90's I fiddled with html and loved it. As a result, I made a decision to start researching the feasibility of somehow employing myself online. 

  I began with what I think is the best approach. Html5, CSS/CSS3 Javascript. and that is currently where I am at. However, I am by no means a master at any of the before mentioned technologies becuase there is so much to learn, and technology is on a train moving at a speed of Mach 3.  

  However, I have learned what I believe is the key to success and that is rather than trying to master all of these languages I am going to learn the basics, and then make sure I am able to find the information that I need to continue advancing my understanding. I treat my learning like a full time job and work on my skills daily.

  Why Php, Well, to start, I have to admit thaat I had never heard of Php prior to 2008, and when I did I became intrigued by its ability to take a website from static to Dynamic. and I figured thatt it was a no brianer that any seriouse developer would want skills in Php hanging from their web utility belt.

  I became interested in Php due to the fact is allows us to make dynamic web sites, This opens up a world of possibilities far beyond the capabilities of the static website. However, with the advancement of html5 and its new capabilities along with the re-juventation of Javascript and its new technologies (Ajax and Node). It will be interesting to see which technology will rise to the top as the leader for Dynamic websites and apps

   

  My goal for participating in this course is to learn more about Php then when I started this course. I see it as takeing futher steps toward my ultimate goal  which is "Freelance Developer"

  From my little knowledge in discussing about the designing of a website, I know most of the webs available are created using ASPN.NET and to do this with a different language or programme, my supervisor adviced me learn or read more on PHP to enable have a clear view of how basically creating websites come about and how I can do it in a PHP form. Sorry if my use of terms are not in form, but I just want to learn web designing using the PHP instead of using ASPN. Thanks
