Synchronous Meetings

May 7 - May 28

Syncrhonous meetings will take place in Google+, Second Life, Jokaydiagrid and anywhere else that is useful for exploring and developing ARGs.

We will be using SLT ( Second Life Time) which is Pacific Standard Time or San Francisco time. The reason we are refering to that time zone is because when we meet in the virtual world - Second Life, that is time that Second Life software shows. This give us all the same reference point.

We do understand that we have people in multiple zones so we are in process of planning on how we can accomodate as many people as possible for synchronous meetings.

It is not required that you attend the synchronous meetings. But please do join us if you wish. We will post all material from the sessions within 24 hours of the session. We also will have discussions thru P2PU that may go into even more detail than the synchronous session.

Thank you!

Task Discussion

Hi, I'm a bit confused as to how this time frame relates to my time zone in Sydney Australia. Can you help me out?

Hi Nadia. Second Life Time (SLT) is basically Pacific Time here in the U.S.; currently Pacific Daylight Time (Linden Labs is based on the west coast, in California). So you're basically living 17 hrs ahead of SLT there in Sydney.

My favorite tool for translating time zones is the WorldTimeBuddy app: http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/   I think the interface is pretty intuitive, it's free to use and doesn't take long to set up.

    Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the great link. It looks like it might be hard for me to participate seeing that it's 10am here and I will be teaching. I hope I can still participate in some capacity.

    Thanks,

    Nadia

    Hey Nadia,

You're welcome. I know there's been talk about adjusting the times for some of the course sessions. Maybe we'll be able to have a few that might overlap with your lunch hour :)

6pm SLT is 2am in the UK so I'm afraid you won't be seeing me much either (though I'm a notoriously patchy attender at MOOC meetings anyway and currently a Google+ refusenik). It would be great if someone could post a summary of, say, 5-6 key points and any associated resources.

Absolutely will do. We are planning on having 2 sessions this Saturday as wrap-up and preview of next week. One at 8 am SLT on Saturday May 12 and then one at 5 pm Saturday May 12. By next week we will figure out the time part of the space/time continuum for the production part of the ARG.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the early Saturday meetup. I'm reluctant to divulge some of what I have planned online, either because it's unfinished/barely started or because I don't want students looking ahead via Google or the Wayback Machine. Having the opportunity to discuss things in chat helped a lot. I also need to spend some time looking at (i) a game, (ii) the exemplar storyboard on Front Range.
