I started workin in a health club in Januarry of 2000. Man how time flies. Y2K wow. It has been going on 12 years ago now. I started working at this health club weighing in at 235 lbs which at the time I didin't even realize that I was overweight and more importantly unhealthy. I am 6' 3" tall so I caried the weight well. Just didn't realize it. I don't remember where I found it or I how I got started on the program but I read the book and started the program, Body For Life by Bill Phillips, which I still reccomend for anyone wanting to truley transform the way that they look. Not just lose weight. Anyone can simply burn more calories than they take in each day. They will undoubtedly lose weight and it doesn't even matter where the calories come from as a matter of fact. It can be less calorites of chocalate fudge or less calories of fruits and vefatables, though you have to keep in mind types calories like the chocolate fudge will be a much more unhealhty way to lose the weight but a calorie is a calorie.. You burn of more than you take in each day , no matter where they come from, you will lose weight. Which brings me back to my story in point. For a beginner this is great book for anyone looking to transfrom the way they look. Not just weight loss but also gain muscle and most impotantly become more healtly and thus more actife and of course live happier more fullfilling lives.
Did you know it has been proven in clinical studies that regular excersise is way more benificial for increasing seatoniin and enkephalin levels in your brain than any anti-depressant medication out there? Was proven years ago.
Body for life will imediatley squash any of the now notorious myths we in the wellness industry come accross every day. I don't know how all this B.S. get out there but B.F.L. will squash many of the main one's you need to know right off the bat as a beginner weight loser or weight gainger, for example, a lot of people that have been trying to lose weight for a while will tyr to starve themselves which can trigger a natural survival mecanism in your body that food is scarce and I need to store away as much of this ass possible for when I stop getting any food at all. See, there is no diect communitcation between your mind and you body. Though I do believe with enough conscieous thought, that it can be a state a of mnd but not for a body and mind that haven't been thinking about it already. This is no fact just and opinion of mine and part of just positve thougths and manifesting your trure potential. Anyway, check the book out. It is not for everyone but a majority of people can use this program. It is a 90 day body transformation. Notice I didn't say weight loss but body TRANSFORMATION, and that's the way you have to look at fif you really wanna get seious and change the way you look, and lets face when you doing something challenging like this and acheive it, you can transform anything in your life.
I lost 50 lbs in 90 daya on the B.F.L. program focusing on three key areas, intense interval cardiovascular/ aerobic workout 3 days a week (the cardio, interval training is so intense when done correctly only takes 20 min. Then their is interval, weigt training (if you want to lose weight and actually change the way you look and feel, you have to train with weights, it burns 4 times the calories that cardio does, and when buile burns al lot more at rest, even while your sleeping) And then last but absolutely not least is diet ( which from years of experience I have learned that a majority of the time when someone is trying to lose weight they end up needing to eat more that their used to on this program, a lot more. 6 meals a day on the B.F.L. program. Which of coure brings me to.
Supplementation- it''s almost impossble for the average person to eat 6 meals a day especailly healthy meals with all the protein, carbs, and nutrients your body need to do everything else it does and the work outs too. When done wih this program I used and highly recommend meal replacement shakes ro drink in between your regular breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is one of the worst things that can happen to people working out a lor is not eating ehough or getting the nutrients their bodies need to to do rigorous exercise. They would be much better off on the couch.
I did the program lost the weight, gain muscle confidence and changed my life and for the 1st time in my life i developed a passion for something. It wasn't right after I finished the program but over the course of the next several years accellling throught the ranks of the company that I was working for and just studying anything I could get my hands on staying on update with health and wellness products and services.I realized years ago that this was going to be the next big thing simlar to the internet boom and furhter back automoblles and I think we are starting to see it today. More and more people are starting to want be and live healttier more fullfilling lives. Well there's all kinds of work out programs out there and most of them are great. Just staying active, breaking a sweat, and getting your heart rate up each day is enough ot save someone that's sedintary or ruminating. And just because I took it to that extreme. Most of the people out there that think the activiity at you job is enough there only a few that are. Anyway, exercise is easy. The hard part that I have realized and what my main focus today and has been for quite some time has been supplementation. How do we know which one is working or the best choice. Well I have been studying and focusing more on supplemention and trying to figure which one are bull and which are not. I have come to ths conclusion that when selecting vitamins or supplemnts always ask where's the science and I now work with a company that is all about science so much to the point that I don't even need to bother with any other's. We are so far aheag of anyone slapping their name on a bottle and calling what they want. Ask them where' she science and research it.
