I am the Academic Lead for Distance and Online Learning at Anglia Learning and Teaching, Anglia Ruskin University's central learning and teaching unit. I am involved in all aspects of developing technology-enhanced, online and distance learning from staff development to policy.
I graduated from Albert Ludwigs Universität, Freiburg, Germany with an M.Ed. in Geography and German (1. Staatsexamen) and a MSc in Information Technologies and Learning from Lancaster University. I am currently undertaking a doctorate at the Institute of Education, University College London with a focus on distance work-based learning.
I have worked in high schools in the US, Adult Education in Germany and Higher Education in the Republic of Ireland and the UK and have many years of diverse teaching experiences in education, web and instructional design and (German) language and culture, teaching face-to-face, online blended and at a distance. I currently teach at postgraduate level in Education including the distance learning PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. I also supervise postgraduate dissertations.
For more than a decade I have worked as educational designer and staff developer with specialisms in technology-enhanced, online and distance learning as well as assessment and feedback.
I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and member of different networks and special interest groups (SIGs) (ELESIG, QAQE, M25 Learning Technology Group, UALL).
