I'm currently employed part time through a Knight News Challenge grant, project-managing the social-networking web application, SeedSpeak (painfully Alpha). I have a Master's of Mass Communication from Arizona State University, and while I might not fit the traditional definition of 'journalist' at the moment, I consider myself a storyteller at heart (I just wrote a screenplay - I know! - and I'm currently working on a collection of short stories).
Recently I've taken a strong interest in interaction design and user experience design, and have been looking for every opportunity to build those skills and head in that direction professionally. Consequently I've worked a fair amount with Omnigraffle, Axure and Fireworks in an attempt to hone my prototyping/wireframing/requirements documentation skills.
I also have strong web-production experience, and corresponding mastery of many of the creative/communication tools involved (HTML, CSS, basic PHP, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Connect, Cover it Live, Twitter, Facebook, Final Cut, Premiere Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Soundbooth, Flash, Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla, Dreamweaver). Additionally, I've played around quite a bit with After Effects, and am currently teaching myself some 3D design skills (via Blender).
I also speak fluent German, as well as Rosetta Stone-level Spanish!
