View Your File in a Browser

Create your first web page

In choosing your text editor and writing the 'helloworld.html' file, you've just created your first web page. Now you will view it in all of its glory. This is just a quick task and it should only take five minutes at most.

Open up your web browser and from the file menu at the top choose File > Open and open the 'helloworld.html' file that you've just created. Congratulations for the second time. That's a web page that you created.

Here is my html. It worked. I found the file menu in Firefox but I cannot find it in Google Chrome so I could not open it as instructed. I can open it in Chrome by going to the directory and opening my html file - Chrome is my default browser.

Don't you love it when you answer your own question? Glad you figured it out! You'd make a good mentor for somebody who's new and wants to test their code in different ways. smiley

Your comment reminded me to try looking at my file in different browsers, too. It doesn't matter so much for this first challenge, but I have a feeling future assignments may address cross-browser compatibility.

    ...stupid IE...

Checkout a youtube video, go to share, and click on the embed option. That will give you an iframe code. Simply paste that on your page.

I tried and failed to embed it in the comments but succeeded in embedding the video on the posterous website.

Thank you for the task. Your photos are GREAT. The large one scared me a bit though.
