Let's face it, video games are fun. If they weren't, there would not be a multi-BILLION dollar industry around them. But what happens when you peek under the hood? What makes up a video game? And how can you use the allure of video games for good? This course will introduce you to the world of video game design and development (VGD&D), and will also relate how VGD&D can work in the classroom to reinforce concepts in math, reading, science, logic, and technology! STEM/STEAM? Common Core? PBL? VGD&D fits all these areas and can be made accessible to learners of all ages. Want to learn more? Join us! Who should join? While this course is geared toward educators looking to develop a game design & development program in their own classroom, school or district, please don't let that discourage you from joining us! We grow when we are exposed to a wide range of perspectives and ideas and we would love to share YOURS! What should I know before taking this course? No prior experience is necessary. Be aware that this course is intended to be organic and that some parts of it may evolve based on the needs and desires of the community.
