6. CPR and AED for Children
In this lesson, we will be reviewing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for children. Child CPR is comprised of chest compressions, airway and breathing. It is important to remember that without CPR, a child could die, therefore you must not be scared of hurting the child. You will learn high quality CPR for children which includes: proper compressions, giving breaths, and mask use. We will talk about AED use in children and the steps to take. You will also learn to assess when to call 911 and get help. After, you will learn to put this information together in a systematic manner to ensure increased patient survival. The last lesson covers choking, which includes a chart (found in manual) and the steps for performing the Heimlich Maneuver.
