19. PALS - Cardiac Arrest

In this PALS lesson, we will be discussing cardiac arrest in children and infants. You will learn how to recognize the reversible causes of cardiac arrest, cardiopulmonary failure, and arrest rhythms. You will also learn how to recognize and differentiate the different types of abnormal electrical activity of the heart including pulseless electrical activity (PEA), asystole, ventricular fibrillation (VFib), and pulseless ventricular tachycardia (VTach). In order to best comprehend how to respond to cardiac arrest, we have provided you with the algorithm from the manual that we suggest you take the time to thoroughly study.
