Week 7: The ULR, the Branch and the Learning Agreement.
This section of the course aims to give you the chance to:
- To build up a picture of the different roles operating within a branch
- To discuss how a Union Learning Rep fits in to the branch structure

Every branch has a number of key branch officers and representatives, all of which are undertaken by people who are employed within the same sector/organisation as themselves, but are given time off to undertake union duties.
Read through the Code of Good Branch Practice to find out about different roles in UNISON.

TASK 1:
Using the form match up the roles with key functions.
TASK 2:
- Think about the major issues that are affecting members in the workplace and branch at this moment.
- Write a list of the 5 major issues that you think UNISON branches will be dealing with currently using the activity (10) sheet .
- Look at the list and think about where the learning agenda would feature on the branch priorities.
Learning Agreements
This section of the course aims to give you the chance to:
- Consider and understand the value of learning agreements for the union and your employer.
- Understand the role of the ULR in discussing a learning agreement.
