Week 5: Issues that ULRs might face
This week we will:
-
address the different kinds workplace issues ULRs could deal with
-
debate at what points other roles from within the Branch should become involved in dealing with issues
-
to evaluate why learning issues should be dealt with by the Branch and not by ULRs in isolation
Workbook: Activity 7
In the Community Call this week you will look at some common scenarios that ULRs encounter in the workplace and also have the chance to:
-
practice talking about the role of the ULR
-
think about how to respond to perceptions about the role of the ULR
-
and think about ways of signposting learners
Here's a video that was produced by the UNISON Branch in Barnet Council back in 2007. It shows what can be achieved if the Branch, the ULR and the employer work together to provide meaningful learning opportunities for members and potential members alike.
*Task:*
The form below has a range of statements about the role of the ULR for you to think about. Grade each one based upon the degree to which you agree with the statement and give your reasons for each of your grading.
After you've graded each of the 14 statements, submit your answers and then click "See Previous Responses" to see how you and other learners have graded the statement.
Do your answers fit with the majority view?
