This online resource aims to provide anyone who is either already working as a Personal Assistant in social care or thinking of joining the profession with an up-to-date and accessible way to learn more about the role of the PA, gain awareness of the key issues PAs face and access sources of further information, learning and support.

The Guidebook brings together some of the best freely-available online resources embedded alongside newly created videos and written materials in one place.

The Guidebook has been written and compiled by key professionals from the partnership organisations below, including leading social work professional Dr Neil Thompson.

DigiSkills Cymru is a lifelong learning project created by UNSION Cymru Wales, hosted by WEA Cymru and funded by the Welsh Government's Wales Union Learning Fund (2013-16). The aim of the project is to lead the co-design of new opportunities for public service workers to develop their digital literacies and promote digital inclusion throughout the public services by recruiting and training digital champions.

Connecting Learners in South & Mid Wales is a lifelong learning project created by UNISON Cymru Wales, hosted by Community Lives Consortium and funded by the Welsh Government's Wales Union Learning Fund (2013-16). The aim of the Project is to support and compliment work based learning opportunities in social care and social housing – with a particular focus on the basic skills of literacy and numeracy.

Torfaen County Borough Council is a local authority in South East Wales that provides a range of care and support services for those who are assesed as eligble.
