  1. Listen to the dialog. Close your eyes. Just listen. Does anything sound familiar?

  2. Following the script, listen, and repeat after the speakers. Repeat this step as many times as you wish.

  3. Try reading the script without the audio prompt. How did it go? Too soon? No worries, we’ll go back to it a little later.

Iwona: Cześć Mariusz!
Mariusz: Cześć Iwona! Co słychać?
Iwona: Po staremu. A co u ciebie?
Mariusz: Wszystko w porządku. Trzymaj się!
Iwona: Do zobaczenia! Cześć.

Task 2. Use Quizlet to Practise New Vocabulary

  1. Using the flashcards mode, practise saying the Polish greetings. Click 'Click to flip' in the bottom right-hand corner to go to the English card. Press the audio button to listen to the words. Repeat aloud as many times as you wish. You can click ‘View this study set’ to see the whole vocabulary set.

  2. Click ‘Choose a Study Mode’ in the bottom right-hand corner of the Quizlet frame. Try the other types of the quiz. The more you practise, the faster the words will settle in your memory.

Task 3. Search for Other Resources Online

  1. Search for online resources to practise Polish greetings. Try, for example Travel Linguist on YouTube starting from 0:57.

  2. Did you find some good resources? Post a comment below and share your links. Did you learn any other words while browsing the Internet? Please share those too.

Task 4. Display Your New Skills

Time to show off your new skills!

Go to this VoiceThread and record the phrases you practised and learned in this lesson.

Task 5. Greet Someone in Polish in Real Life

Finally, let’s use the new skills in real life.

  1. Do you know a Polish person in your community, at work, or at school? Greet them in Polish the next time you see them.

  2. Greet the first person you meet tomorrow in Polish. It’ll be a great conversation starter :) Optionally, you can greet your family members, or friends. Perhaps you can even teach them a word or two. Have fun!

  3. Add a comment below about how it went.
