what is imagery?
Imagery is a very powerful tool for any artist to use. Imagery can have 2 very effective outcomes: Firstly if you are a writer, you can paint a picture in someone's mind as they read your words. The very cool thing about that is that you will have a much better chance of getting the reader to understand exactly what you want to say as they will be able to picture your idea in their head as they read. The cleverer the image, the more impressed the reader will be. Secondly, if you are a visual artist (film, painting, sculpture, magazine) then giving the audience visual ideas for them to think about stimulates their brains, and entertains them. It's kind of like the reverse of writing. Often, the viewer will interpret the image into words in their minds.
