I am a husband, dad and grandfather first and foremost. The entire summation of career development involvement, other than two teachers who worked on skills, came from one guidance counselor in one question: "what do you want to be in life?" I said that I wanted to work with computers and he signed me up for a vocational program titled Accounting & Computing. (that was in 1971 btw :-) My formal education and career did not work for me. Inevitably, I believe that my struggles led to a disease that has now caused me to be disabled. Today's youth should be exposed to career development as early as 1st grade and I am on a mission to learn more about it.
