    Hi,

My name is Mark.  We are exploring adding a 3D printer at work so I thought I should try to learn a little about 3D printing as early as possible.

I am interested in learning about 3D printing.  I believe it can be somewhat if not overwhelmingly revolutionary in its effect on manufacturing.   I want to understand its implications and learn to create my own files for printing.   I am not sure if I can ever have any commercial application for this knowledge though that thought does excite me, but I certainly want to be able to use the technology for my own benefit.

This is my first time venturing into the world of P2PU and I am excited to start learning.

    Hello,

I'm a science teacher in Melbourne, Australia and would like to use a 3D printer in science classes. I'd love to see the items students design and make. It would be a great skill to teach and I think students would enjoy creating their own objects.

If anyone has had experience in using 3D printing in schools, I'm all ears.

Although my academic background is not technical, I’m quite geeky with interest in all that’s Free and Open.

Naturally I’m complled by the virtually limiltelss possibilities that 3D Printing (together with Free Software and Open Hardware) could enable.

On a more specific note, I’ve been planning to get a RepRap into Kiberpipa/Cyberpipe — our local hacklab — for years now and I hope 2013 will be the year when we’ll get one.

I am a high school robotics/pre-engineering teacher at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas.  I am begining my sixth year of teaching in this program.  I am interested in 3D printing as an individual as well as a teacher.  I want to offer this ability/skill to my students as well as I am evaluating the use of P2PU for my classroom.

I have experience in shop tools including vertical mill and lathe as well as most wood working tools.  I have been learning SolidWorks over the past 5 years in my robotics class/competitive team development.  I have taken/attended multiple workshops provided by SolidWorks including Essentials and Sheet Metal Design.

I look forward to learning as an adult and showing my students that I am no different than they are.  In my class this year, I am having a powerhour program each week.  Students choose a topic of study and they will focus on the that topic for one day of class each week.  This will be my power hour to start.
