Learn about cross-compiling, and learn the ins and outs of everyone's favorite unix-like
GNU/Linux can be a little overwhelming, because it's so big and powerful. While much less true today with Ubuntu, Mint, and other desktop Linux distributions, there is an old fashioned idea from the days when GNU/Linux was young that the easiest way to learn how to use it was to build it. Even today, I believe there is some truth to this attitude. So join me as you create a working, cross-compiled operating system and learn how it works along the way. It's probably easier than you think!
