Devise a disaster plan [May 2, 2012, 6:02 a.m.]
Some services stores data that is important to us. We may be able to get along without the service or replace the service with a different service, but we do not want to lose our data. For this we need to put a disaster plan in place
In most instances this is as simple as backing up our data that is stored online. Sometimes we allready have that data stored somewhere else like on your phone or computer.
Dropbox and GitHub are two example where the data should allready be on your computer or phone. You may still decide if further backup is necessary.
Our disaster plan for services storing critical data should include:
- How often do we backup our data
- Can we replace the service with something else when we need to
