This course will become read-only in the near future. Tell us at community.p2pu.org if that is a problem.

Drafting and visioning [June 22, 2012, 4:48 p.m.]

Different people draft, vision and revision in different ways ... so feel free to work through this task however is best for you. We will provide you some ideas to get you going if you are stuck but also feel free to share ideas that you think others could use too. We can all work on this together!

What is your vision?

What is the vision you have for your resource? Is it a post that can be read on a single page much like a blog? Or does it have multiple, but related, pieces? Maybe it's not to be read textually at all and rather your entire resource is a video, audio or other media file instead.

Digital Is is flexible and can accomodate many different visions. Here are some examples:

What are your goals?

Your goals might help you clarify your vision. All of the resource above will support different purposes. For instance, the video from Fourth Grade Service Learning Project or other digital media such as a Prezi embedded in Online Literacy and Communities of Practice can be shared in a variety of ways, both from within Digital Is or otherwise. However, a multipaged book resource would be something you'd want folks to read in Digital Is and will help you make connections between ideas, which in This I Believe Goes Multimodal is imporrtant as this teacher is sharing a range of student work and sharing the story and reflections. Therefore the connected nature of this resource is important to consider.

Another thing to consider is the option you have to create a "blog" or a "resource" in Digital Is. Blogs, such as Webcomic Analysis: State of Student Technology, can be more responsive to current events and even casual. Where resources, such as Unwholesome and Insipid Fruit, tend to be more "evergreen" content that can engage conversation and thinking over a long period of time.

Feel free to draft privately and/or request feedback on drafts

We welcome drafting of resources in Digital Is and this can be done in private mode so that you can play with different options for your resource. Digital Is also have the option of making your resource visible to other resources creators as a draft. Move to the next task to learn more about this.
