This challenge supports the use of materials found in the Beginning Unit of the OpenFiction Project, a free and open introductory fiction writing course
The goals of this challenge are to:
• become familiar with the OpenFiction Project course materials and how they are structured
• learn techniques for generating short story ideas, and
• begin writing the short story that you will finish by the end of your work with the OpenFiction Project materials.
Follow the instructions here for selecting a published writer's story to use with the course materials. While Best American Short Stories is recommended as a source, the story can be selected from any publication or anthology, can be any genre and can be from any time period. Post your selected story name and a few sentences about why you chose it on the discussion forum for this task.
