This course will become read-only in the near future. Tell us at community.p2pu.org if that is a problem.

It's time to go! [Feb. 6, 2012, 11:11 a.m.]

These challenges are designed to help you think about the  many things that go into planning an event. If you've gotten this far,  you're ready to jam with your participants. You planned this, so  don't be nervous. You too are learning. Be adaptive, follow your plan, be clear and maintain focus. If you do those things, you'll run a totally Awesome Event. Remind your peers that your event is happening by posting it here in the discussion wall.

Don't forget to:

  • Share the hashtag for the event with your participants. Allow participants to vocalize their excitement!
  • Allow partipants to assign themselves roles.   Let people work together in teams and throughout the jam encourage them  to take on specific roles on their  project.,  such as visual designer,  coder, project manager, documentarian, etc. Find out what people are  interested in and then inspire them to commit to doing something that  stimulates that interest. Record given roles and post them on the  discussion wall.
  • Take pictures, lots of pictures. Submit them to a public repository like Flickr and post the URL here.
  • Get feedback  from your participants. Before the end of the hackjam, you want to  find  out what your participants thought. Ask them! Get them to talk  about what they made, what they liked or disliked about the event.  Gather the participant's responses and create a summary blogpost that  links to  them. Post the url.
  • Determine Next Steps At the end of the day, your participants are going to be pumped. Discuss next steps with them. Do you want to arrange a meetup? Get your participants involved in the planning process!
