    O = I as in women

    TI = SH as in nation

    This shows that in the english written language there is never one way of pronouncing a word specifically because there is so many english language rules

    You can link this to spoken language with phonetics because some words are written in a different way to how they are spoken and also because you sometimes cant write a word how it is spelt like the word nation is said like Nayshon but written Nation

    Ghoti is a respelling of the word fish.

     

    1. How is this possible?

    This is possible because the 'Gh' sound is pronounced as the letter 'f' like how you would pronounce it in the word 'through'. Also the 'O' sound is pronounced as 'I' like the word 'women'. Then the 'ti' sound is pronounced as 'sh' like in the word 'station'. So if you put all of these sounds together, you will say the word 'fish'.

    This reaveals that the English language is complex as there are many different sounds and ways of pronouncing words. Also there are words that mean different things but are spelt differently, they don't usually have this in different languages.

    English language can be interperated in many different ways and can be used in different situations and is more complicated as writing than speech.

    Because the 'gh' makes an 'f' sound like the end of the word tough, the 'o' makes the 'I' sound like the "o" in the word people and 'ti' makes a 'sh' sound like in the word nation.

    By saying a word, and you dont know how it was spelt, it could be spelt in many ways. Like the word Through could be spelt like frew, threw, through, froo, throo

    1. How is this possible? this is possible by having differnet translations of fish not just different laungages but different ways in witch to spell fish

     2. What does this reveal about English as a written language? this reveals that english is a complex language that there are many translations and thesse can all aplly to diferent verbs nouns so they can be corrersponding to each other.

     Ghoti is a respelling of the word fish. 1. How is this possible? I am not sure on this question!

    2. What does this reveal about English as a written language? English as a written language is much more different to speaking, because when you say a word you say it how it sounds but when you write a word it sometimes doesn't make sense or look the right spelling.

    If you said the word but did not know how it was spelt you could spell it many different ways because of how many different sounds a group of letters make.

    It is possible because you have to split the word, putting the letters, 'Gh' together makes a 'F' sound just like the word 'through'. After the letter 'O' is pronounced like a 'I' like the word people. And then the letters 'ti' together make a 'sh' sound, like in the word nation. And now when you say the word 'Ghoti' it sounds like the word 'fish'.

    This revels to me that the English language is not always spelt as it is said, and not always as clear as it looks. when the english language is written, it has a lot of hidden things behind it; silent letters, phonetic spelling ect. In my opinion it shows how advance and complex the english language really is.

    This is possible because you have to almost separate the word, to begin with putting the 'Gh' together makes a 'F' sound like the word through. Then the 'O' is pronounced like a 'I' like the word people. And finally the letters 'ti' together make a 'sh' sound, like in the word nation. And now you say the word Ghoti out loud you end up saying Fish.

    This revels that the English language is not always what it seems to look like, and not always as straight forward as you may think. The english language when written has a lot of hidden things behind it, for example; silent letters, homophones, homonyms, phonetic spelling ect. I think that it just shows how complex written language is.
