This online 12-week curriculum can be completed by team of 4-5 middle or high school girls (guided by a mentor or teacher) to develop mobile phone applications, “apps”. Teams everywhere in the world submit their app, video pitch, and business plan to an online panel for judging by April 13, 2013. Regional winners travel to the San Francisco Bay Area and compete at the Technovation World Pitch event ~May 1st for US $10,000 to develop their app for the mobile market.

Technovation aims to create an environment in which high school girls feel empowered and confident. Promotion of self is a skill that many women have difficulty with, and this can have a negative impact on their careers. This lesson aims to equip students with skills in self-promotion and boost their confidence when presenting to a group. Each team will practice their 4-minute pitch and film a practice video.
