Arrive is a fast, reliable, and inexpensive attendance system. We programmed the application to allow students and faculty to check into school from their phone. Arrive uses geolocation to track students within 60 ft of school, and then enables them to scan a QR code available at the entrance of or within the school building. Students are then checked in. Administrators may view student attendance by class and last name, and parents can opt-in to receive a text message when their child checks into school. Administrators may also connect to a robot, which our team has built, to unlock doors from their phone.

Clements TechGirls’ Early Bird Android application is an alarm clock created for elementary students. Unlike other clocks, after the alarm sounds, the user must complete an educational game before the sound will turn off. The application itself builds off of an extended metaphor of the phrase “The early bird gets the worm”, utilizing a Bird-and-Worm theme that manifests itself throughout the app. Worms, which awarded for successfully completing the challenges, can purchase items, including snoozes and virtual pet Birds, in the app’s Store. The goal oriented structuring within the virtual Bird-and-Worm theme of this Store provides encouragement for young users.
