I'm Katherine and I'm currently working toward my M.Ed. and my certification for secondary mathematics and physics. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Arcadia 11 years ago and I worked for about 8 years as an actuary. I left the corporate world a few years ago to stay home with my daughter. I've been in grad school for a year now, but almost all of my classes have been general education, not specific to math ed, so I'm really excited for this course. I'm also looking forward to learning about current technology for classrooms because it's been so long since I've studied mathematics formally and I know there is so much out there that I don't know.
I’m married with a four-year-old daughter and a 12-year old stepdaughter. I love to read, both novels and non-fiction. My favorite non-fiction subjects are women in math and science, math history, cosmology, and astronomy. I am extremely passionate about gender equity in math and science education. I look forward to getting to know all of you during the semester!
