I am an instructional coach at a high school in North Carolina. Our school was designated as a Turnaround school because overall proficiency on state EOCs were below 60%. Our school-wide focus has been on changing the culture of literacy at our school. Our test scores have improved but, we continue to struggle with students who are reluctant readers and are disconnected to school. I've been teaching for 27 years. I've taught reading to kindergarteners, elementary students, secondary students, college students and adults. My husband, Mike and I have two daughters, Callie 23 and Sarah 17. I come from a big family with 5 sisters and 3 brothers, with who I am very close.
