Hack Day (App Inventor Training) Information

You will attend a Hack Day with your team where you will learn how to program using App Inventor. The Hack Day curriculum takes approximately 8 hours to complete.

Mentors can help arrange Hack Day through contacts in local colleges and universities or find another suitable venue. Undergraduate and graduate computer science students can volunteer for the event. Teachers can also help to arrange Hack Day.

Please post comments about Hack Day below.

Virtual Hack Day:

Teams without access to nearby colleges or universities can complete Hack Day as a series of online tutorials using the tutorial instructions, questions, and PowerPoint presentations provided below.

WHAT TO BRING TO HACK DAY:

Organizing Hack Day?  First, check out our Hack Day Guidelines which will give you step-by-step instructions and tips to help you plan the event. Hi All,

We had our Hack day this weekend.  It was exciting to meet the girls and work on the Tutorials.  Looking forward to the weekly visits on Thursdays at AMSA school.

They are still looking for mentors. So if any of you are interested in mentoring at AMSA school in Marlborough, please let me know.

Kelly did take some pictures of each group.  But she also needed to get consent from the parents to upload pictures.  I am guessing once we have that I can check with her about the pics.

    Hi all

We held Hack Day over here at Al Qamar Academy in Chennai. We could only get to finish Crystal Ball as this was the first introduction to any sort of programming for these girls.  We started from explaining what an "application" is. But the girls picked up very fast and thoroughly enjoyed it.  We invited a "field expert" in android application come over and conduct the training.

Will be moving on to the other tutorials this week once they finish practising a little more with this.

Would anyone like to have a team come to Haverhill, MA to do a January Hack day. We did a hack day but was not able to use app inventor- the server was down and it was impossible to use it that particular day. We will have to hold further hack days after school in January. We have plenty of computers to support a visiting team doing it with us.

    Hi Eve,

The tutorials that are available right now, actually take you to a 13 pages long pdf document, and include all the tutorials. So if you are looking to print out the tutorials, you can just print that one. We will make this more clear, but you should already have access to all the tutorials here.
