The sign-up is a space where interested individuals can express their interest and background in the topic and commit to working with the rest of the participants. Standard Set Answer:Public Set Answer:I really got interested about math when I began working as a Math tutor about 4 years ago. I started watching Numb3rs at about the same time. I love the logic, clean definite answers, and the applications. I'd like to learn more in the hopes I'll be a better math tutor as each day goes by. I'd like to be able to teach it in a way that will help people use it in life. I don't know how much help I can be, but I like helping.

I am hoping to learn more natural ways of discovering and using mathematics in life. My school does well in teaching computational skills I want to help them explore the problem solving and pattern seeing skills.
I would be happy to help with the course organization, but am really hoping to learn some skills and perhaps start my own parent math group at my local library.

I'm hoping to learn fun ways to introduce math to my kids.
I have never participated in a P2PU class before so I don't know what I could add in terms of organization.

I've always liked math throughout school but it did not necessarily come easily to me. I am also a mother of three children: ds almost 8 yrs old, ds 4.5 yrs. old, and dd 14 months old.
I was stuck with the worksheet ways of teaching my children as the core of their curriculum since I felt that was the only way to get the core elements of math taught to my children. Now I've included Math Whizz but my heart says that there are better ways than this. I am continually jumping around using various curriculums to maintain my children's interest in math.
I've been following the Natural Math group for awhile and I've included a few things into our schedule - math readers, a few games and Hands on Equations. I'm hoping that the great ideas that I get from actively participating in this group will help me instill the love of math and still have them get a solid foundation.

Standard Set Answer:Public Set Answer:Eventhough my oldest son is only almost eight, I continually struggled with teaching him the basics of math while maintaining his fondness of the subject. It was almost like torture using worksheets to get him to learn math. Therefore, we have tried many curriculums in just a few short years. The times he enjoys learning math the most happens when we play games.
I also have a 4.5 yr. old that I am just starting to teach the basics of math. I am looking for a non-worksheet based method of teaching him that has depth and is also fun.
Aside from the issues I've had teaching my children, I also learn best by example and when i have the opportunity to get questions answered. I also love the idea of learning from people who have such an immense passion for math and plan on conveying that to my children.
I would be very eager to help out with the course organization.
