I'm a Maths and Computer Science graduate of York University (UK). Since graduating I've been working freelance as a web developer and general IT assistant for individuals and small businesses, as well as for a few charities on a voluntary basis.
I'm familiar with most programming languages, having used PHP, Perl, Python, Java and Javascript in my work, as well as HTML and CSS. I wouldn't call myself expert in any of these but I try to keep broadly up to date with current technologies. I have a lot of experience maintaining various Linux installations on my home PC, which became a bit of a hobby for a while. I even completed a functional Linux From Scratch installation.
I've always been a bit late getting into social media. I've tried out blogging and Twitter and am familiar with how they work but I've never fully exploited them. But I do use Google chat and Skype a fair amount, especially since my latest niece arrived in the world.
