My work encompasses educational research and technology, with special focus on STEM disciplines, OER, and data-sharing. Currently, I am a Project Manager for the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education (MITE), as well as a consultant on innovation in education and science for several projects and organizations, including the Mozilla and William and Flora Hewlett Foundations, the Alexandria Archive Institute, and the NSF DataONE project. I also sit on the boards for Peer 2 Peer University and Wikieducator. Prior positions include being the Executive Director of ccLearn at Creative Commons, the Assistant Director of the Academic Resource Center and a Research Associate in Biology at Duke University, and an Instructor at several universities. I have a Ph.D. in Biology (Evolutionary Genetics) from the University of Oregon and a BS in Biology from the University of California, San Diego.
