Dr. Ava (Shu-Hsiang) Chen is an educator, researcher, global learner, and world citizen originally from Taiwan. She has lived in the foreign countries for 11 years. She finished her Bachelor degree in Management Information Systems and Master degree in Instructional Technology with emphasis on Performance Training and Technology from the University of Northern Iowa, USA. After completed her degrees in USA, she decided to move back to Asia. The opportunity has leaded her landed to A Land of Smile – Thailand. During her five years staying in Thailand, she completed her doctoral degrees in Tourism Development from Maejo University in Chiang Mai Thailand and Educational Technology from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok Thailand.
Her current research is focused in the following areas: (1) Open Educational Resources (OER) strategic planning based on the concept of University Social Responsibility (USR) for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), (2) Open curriculum design and development for HEIs, (3) Instructional strategies and technology integration for teaching and learning, (4) Professional code of ethic practice in the open access platform, and (5) cross-cultural field trip.
