I've pretty much mastered the fundamentals of XHTML and CSS 2.1 and am now refining and expanding that knowledge as preparation for HTML5 and CSS3, while learning Javascript, with jQuery to follow. Then it's HeadFirst Ajax and Ajax for Web Application Developers, read in conjunction with Apache Essentials and Apache Cookbook.
And then, graduation to PHP and MySQL! I'm very eager to sink my teeth into Larry Ullman's books, among others.
I'm also reading Learning Unix for Mac OS X Tiger and Mac OS X for Unix Geeks. The GUI just doesn't do it for me; I want to know what's going on under the hood. Once I dabbled with Ubuntu Linux, I was hooked on the kind of control and power you have over your OS. Plus, it's simply faster and more reliable. I use Mac to develop out of necessity but also continue to learn Ubuntu on my other machine.
I have been a serious student of philosophy since highschool, play a mean game of Chess, like to exercise and stay fit and healthy, look forward to owning a motorcycle and have long been plotting my escape from Nyc to Maine or Vermont or Alaska, maybe even Canada or Iceland, or wherever I can enjoy the beauty of nature.
