Standard Set Answer:For the past few months, I have been very determined to learn web app development, and I have had varying degrees of success. I believe that the biggest obstacle is figuring out how to apply the different facets together. Lots of guides will explain Ruby on Rails syntax or other small portions of development, but I have found few comprehensive guides (going from HTML all the way to complex PHP) that aren't in some ways dumbed down or give you really concrete examples.
I have a few ideas for web applications that I am determined to create, and I am confident that the information from this class will help me. I know that all of them can be completed by one man, and I am realistic about my expectations. None of these will be the "Facebook killar", but they are fun little diversions that I would love to make while still in school and have free time to tinker.
I am interested in helping with Peer 2 Peer University. I signed up a long time ago, admittedly forgot about the web site, but finding this class (via Reddit) has reinvigorated my interest in the site. In fact, I may even see about making a class after this one.
