Are you interested in how tax money is actually spent in your local area or in your country? This is a study group for people who want to make public spending real and not just talk about it.
What is to be done?
We are listing the critical tasks one has to do, to publish data in OpenSpending.org. Much documentation has been made to the help-section of the page: http://openspending.org/help/index.html
This study group is for the people who want to make reading tutorial more social, so people can ask for help, when they need it.
This is the first part. You have to decide what data you want and is it available.
In democratic countries there should be some kind of law about, how citizens are allowed to get public data about public spending.
In Finland for example you can make 'request for information' (tietopyyntö) about the data you want from the officials.
Here is budget data of Jyväskylä from the year 2011. It has been asked for by Antti Poikola. http://fi.thedatahub.org/fi/dataset/jyvaskylan-talousarvioluvut-ja-toteutumat-2011
It took some months to get it by requesting information.
