I'm a geek trying to figure out how to get out of defense contracting. I do IT systems engineering, which I love, but I work with people who don't like computers despite being in IT. This makes me sad, and I want to change it. I keep toying with the idea of dropping out of work and getting a masters, and that may be what I should do. Plans are being made!
I am a huge fan of automated learning systems. Khan Academy is the embodiment of about half of a set of ideas I've had for improving education for a few years. I would love to have an opportunity to participate in creating those systems. That's part of why I'm here. If I can give myself a toenail-hold in open source development on educational systems, I might be able to do something I love with people I love for a cause I love...and then I would go from being one of the luckiest people I know to THE luckiest person I know. That would be awesome.
