I have been teaching over 40 years in mathematics for grades K-12 but my position for the last years in the area of Elementary Mathematics and using technology with mathematics. To me Math is alive and should be taught with understanding and how to apply what a child has learned to real problems. I would prefer that children understand before concepts are expected to be mastered.
